I spent my college years exploring the rugged peaks and pristine valleys of Colorado.
Two big memories: The toughest hike I ever did was Pikes Peak, a 24-mile haul that left me blistered and hungry. The scariest moment I ever had was trudging through Independence Pass, between Leadville and Aspen, one of the scariest and most dangerous roads in the world. I love this mile-high state.
