I must admit: I'm a New Hampshire person. I've spent most of my life visiting New Hampshire, thus I have little experience in Vermont. If you're looking at this page, this will probably make sense to you as, I presume, a Vermont person. I always think of Vermont as the prettier one. It has all the wonderful clichés about New England pastoral life: Cows, cheese, ice cream, large fields surrounded by forests. And it's all true. I've tried to include a ton of sweet little local gems around the map that prove Vermont is the "prettier" one. Of course, NH is also full of wonders, but they are grittier.
This one has taken me a long time and I blame it mostly on the shape of this one. Vermont stands tall and topheavy, without the luscious curves of other states. But the sculptural solidity of this one is representative of its largely unknown resource: Vermont marble. So I wanted to mkae this feel a little like a sculpture, leaning to indicate curiosity, but still stable.

ABOUT THE IDEA
Information is more fun to read when it's beautiful. I've designed these charts and maps with hours of research, reassembling data into a brain-friendly aesthetic. I edit the information significantly, avoiding the "dazzle" effect which occurs when our eyes are battered with too much information. Letterpress makes it even more gorgeous.
ABOUT LETTERPRESS PRINTING
Letterpress is a very complicated and expensive printing method that I am obsessed with. All letterpress prints are slammed with 600 pounds of pressure, creating a deep, tactile texture. The ink gets embedded into the thick soft paper so it won't fade within your lifetime. Read more about letterpress printing here.
FRAMING
Your local frame shop is going to do a better job than anyone else. There's a reason this craft endures and cannot be automated: It's skilled work that is best done face-to-face in physical space.
